I have graduated and moved back home since my last post - told you I wouldn't keep this up. I've also re-read my past posts and had to edit them because I thought 'i"m' was something that was acceptable in this world, and it most definitely is not. Don't look back to try and find that mistake, I've fixed it.
Anyway, I haven't done much crafting, because third year/nerd year, dissertation, and general lack of will power got in the way. Actually, tell a lie, I crocheted (?) a frog hat for my cousin's baby just before Christmas, but I got the sizes wrong so it now lives on my teddy, called Lily:
This is actually Cookie modelling the Frog Hat, but I promise Lily wears it.
I then made these for said baby, but again, they were a bit big for a new born, but whatever:
Mint green, because baby's name is Minty (short for Araminta), and Winnie the Pooh ribbons, just because.
I am writing this blog post while I wait for some mediocre raspberry and banana muffin things to finish cooking, which I decided to make today. Between randomly thinking I'm Mary bloody Berry, and applying for children's publishing jobs, I have not done much today, hence the sudden flashback to this blog.
Might as well use this tiny platform while I'm here and shamelessly ask if any of my 0 followers know of any children's publishers (or any kind of publishing at this point) who would like a small adult to run around their office, read books, and make the occasional bland cup of tea. I like grammar and hugs, which I diligently force upon people, but always with consent.
To prove to the Internet, and myself, that unemployment and scrounging off of your very reluctant parents CAN be self-fulfilling, I am going to (again, NO promises) start to review children's books, from various publishers, big and small, and tell you what I think. I'll let you know where I found them, may it be in my own house, a local book shop or Enfield Town Library. Once again, there is positively NO demand for this, so it may - probably - be short-lived. But let's remain positive-ish.
So to reiterate. This is what you can now expect from this blog:
- The occasional craft link/awkward photo/musing.
- Weeks, potentially months, between blog posts.
- Children's book reviews.
- Sarcasm, with a dollop of actual humour.
- Authors/Illustrators I love.
- My failings as the next Mary Berry/baker-cum-nation's-sweetheart.
Bye x
Update: The muffins taste weird, so giving up on that.
Disclaimer: I am not a reviewer, so please go easy on me. I don't want to be a laughing stock in your mean WhatsApp group chats. I just like reading kid's books.
